Your Rotary Board of Directors met Wednesday evening for our monthly board meeting at the home of Dave and Rianda McClure. If you haven’t attended a board meeting before or if you just want to see what our club is doing, please know that you’re always welcome. We have a great time. You have a very dedicated and engaged board that you can all be proud of..
Please mark your calendars for the following upcoming events:
Sept. 11th is our Annual Club Barbeque. The barbeque is in lieu of our regular lunch meeting. It should be a lot of fun and we hope that everyone will bring their families and friends. Please RSVP to Linda 831-426-3100 ext 2 so we can get a fairly accurate head count to the caterer, Five Star Catering. We want everyone to enjoy themselves so Five Star is doing all of the work for us. The price will be $35 per person, kids 5-12 are $10 and under 5 are free.
Sept. 19th is our beach clean up day. We are adopting Main Beach and will have regular beach clean up days. This one is in collaboration with Save Our Shores International Coastal Clean-up Day so there will be a huge turn out from other groups as well. Let’s make sure that our Rotary Club is well represented. The time will be 9AM – Noon. All of the supplies will be provided by SOS at the main check in area at Cowell’s Beach.
Sept. 25th is the District Governor’s visit. Loren Harper is a wonderful man. Please plan on attending this meeting and welcome Loren. Please thank him for his dedication to Rotary as the District Governor’s job is a huge time commitment. Ask Past District Governor, Russ Hobbs.
Oct. 15th is the Avenues of Service District meeting in Hayward. We will carpool from the Pasatiempo exit parking area leaving at 3:30PM. Please sign up with Ian if you plan on attending this event. Directors are expected to attend and anyone else who is interested is welcome to come. Our Club pays your fee. It’s a wonderful opportunity for Red Badgers to see what happens at the district level and fulfill that portion of the Blue Badge requirements.
Some things you can be proud of your club for:
Sharon Ciaocca was successful in receiving a district grant for last year’s community project. It went toward surveillance cameras to help law enforcement agencies to make downtown Santa Cruz a safer place to shop. The cameras have been installed and are now operational. Thank you Sharon for your time and dedication to this project.
Peter Prindle has submitted a grant to the district for this year’s community project. The Board has decided to replicate last year’s project by providing two additional cameras for the next “hot spot” that has been identified. We are hopeful to have the request fulfilled and should know within the next two weeks.
There’s so much more but I’m out of space. I’ll fill you in on the rest next week.
Slincerely,
President Linda
